The life of the Moravians displays a very great example of prayer and full dependence on the Holy Spirit. Their zeal on the Word, and prayer was so clearly practiced in their daily living. I admire their consistent practice to always pray, and they did that consistently for how many years/decades. Not just their seriousness in prayer but also their faithfulness and seriousness on giving importance to spreading the good news to the world through their faithful sending of 10% of their people to the mission field. And they did that not just to let the missionaries do the work on their own but side by side working with them; they are faithfully at their backs in prayer and in financial support. A wonderful example of a full accountability with one another and an evidence of truly adapting their people as a family, to not leave them on their own.
Their example of faithful and consistent prayer really layed the truth that it is possible to be so prayerful and make it a habit to consistently pray, and could even make it possible for decades. In my own life, I honestly could say that consistent prayer is real hard thing for me to do. Even for just short minutes I easily get distracted by the things around me, at often times I get sidetracked or forget what I’m praying about. I could talk to God in an informal situations but in a organized way I usually fail to do. In their faithfulness in helping the missionaries, I say how unfaithful I am on that area. A lot of times I don’t partner with missionaries in financial matter. I’m not that good in giving to them and I fail to see the greater cause that it could have in the expansion of the kingdom. I need to be more prayerful and be more helpful in the mission ministry.
To be able to do that; to be more prayerful I need to practice the discipline of prayer. To always look back to the example that they had shown, that in times that I feel of wanting to give up in prayer I would always remember that they did succeeded in prayer for years, and that practice could also be possible in me. To fully rely on the Holy Spirit to be able to make zeal in prayer possible in my life, and my whole family. As I also learn that we need to be accountable with our own people, I would now start to practice the generous giving to the missionary. What their doing is not that easy I will practice adapting missionary of other places. I will start with one, now and later on will just look to add another. By this I could be serious in focusing on prayer and missions. To be accountable to missions in both prayer and financial support.
